ACCREDITATION

POCONO MOUNTAIN REGIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCREDITED PENNSYLVANIA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY

  • The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department is proud to announce that on July 13, 2011, the Department became an Accredited Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Agency. At the 2011 Annual Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Conference, the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) unanimously approved the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department for Accredited Status. PMRPD became the 68th department in the state and first in Monroe County to meet this professional standard as established by PLEAC. Only approximately 6% of the 1,200 law enforcement agencies have earned this status in Pennsylvania. PMRPD is also only the third regional department to receive this honor.

  • To reach the level of accreditation, a department must establish policies that cover approximately 140 standards of best policing practices. During a two day assessment, three independent assessors from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association conducted an extensive review and evaluation of PMRPD's policies and procedures. The assessors prepared a report which was presented on July 13, 2011 to the Accreditation Commission.
