The Pocono Mountain Regional Police criminal investigations division is led by Lieutenant Steven Williams who oversees overall investigative operations of the unit. The divisions day to day operations are headed up by Detective Sergeant Lucas Bray. The Division has seven (7) case Detectives and an 8th investigator is permanently stationed with the Drug Enforcement Administration Scranton Field Office. These criminal investigators have received training in death and homicide investigations, Rape and sexual assault investigations, interview and interrogation, statement analysis, electronic surveillance, latent print examination, accident reconstruction, narcotics enforcement and various other topics that assist investigators with case resolution.
Detectives are responsible for resolving homicide and assigned felony criminal complaints. When appropriate, investigators bring criminal allegations to the court, take custody of suspects and assist the Monroe County District Attorney's Office with the prosecution of these cases. Investigators also participate in drug task force operations, anti-crime operations and surveillance details through the use of plain clothes and undercover vehicle deployment.
The Pocono Mountain Regional Police investigations unit was responsible for the first Amber Alert in Pennsylvania which assisted in the successful apprehension and prosecution of a first degree homicide case in 2003. The investigations division has also been involved in several cases that have garnered national attention including the successful prosecution of a national fraternity as a result of a hazing death.
